Terms of Use
Last updated: 2026-05-30
These terms govern your use of FlightBound — the iOS, Android, and web app for tracking flights — and the website at flightbound.app. FlightBound is operated by Generalize LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company ("Generalize," "we," "us," or "our"). By installing the app, starting a subscription, or visiting this site, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.
1. Who can use FlightBound
You need to be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required in your country) to use FlightBound. The app includes in-app subscriptions, so if you're under the legal age to enter contracts where you live, you can only use FlightBound with the consent of a parent or guardian who agrees to these terms on your behalf.
2. What FlightBound is
FlightBound shows real-time and scheduled flight status — gate, terminal, departure and arrival times, in-flight position, and personal travel statistics — drawn from public airline schedules and ADS-B-derived position data via the FlightAware AeroAPI service. Some features are free; others are gated behind a paid subscription.
FlightBound is not:
- an airline, ticketing service, booking platform, or travel agency,
- an aviation regulator or air traffic control authority,
- an official source of flight status — always consult your airline for authoritative gate, time, and cancellation information.
3. Your identity on FlightBound
FlightBound does not require you to create an account, sign in, or share personal information to use it. The app generates an anonymous, per-install identifier, which we use to pair your device with your subscription, log per-install request counts on our flight-data proxy, and correlate analytics events you have opted in to.
You can erase this identifier and all your local data at any time from Settings → Data → "Erase all data on this device." Uninstalling the app also removes all locally stored data. See the Privacy Policy for details on what we collect and why.
4. Pricing, billing, and cancellation
FlightBound Pro is available in three forms:
- Pro Monthly: $3.99 USD per month, auto-renewing.
- Pro Annual: $29.99 USD per year, auto-renewing, with a 7-day free trial for first-time subscribers.
- Pro Lifetime: $99.99 USD, a one-time purchase with no renewal. Eligible for Apple Family Sharing — up to 6 family members in the same Apple Family Group can access Pro features at no additional cost.
Pricing displayed in the app reflects the relevant App Store or Google Play local currency and may include local taxes.
Pro Monthly and Pro Annual are tied to the Apple ID or Google account that purchased them and are not shared via Family Sharing. Pro Lifetime is the only tier eligible for Apple Family Sharing.
Grandfathering on price changes: if we raise prices in the future, existing subscribers continue at their original price until they cancel and re-subscribe. You keep what you paid for as long as the subscription is active.
Auto-renewal (Pro Monthly and Pro Annual)
Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends. Your Apple ID or Google account is charged at confirmation of purchase and at each renewal. You can manage and cancel your subscription:
- on iOS: Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions, or in-app: Settings → Manage subscription.
- on Android: Play Store → [your icon] → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions.
Canceling stops the next renewal; you keep Pro access until the current period ends.
Pro Lifetime (one-time purchase)
Pro Lifetime is a non-consumable in-app purchase, not a subscription. There is no recurring charge, no renewal, and nothing to cancel. If you uninstall the app or get a new device, re-install FlightBound and tap Settings → Restore purchases while signed into the same Apple ID (or as a member of the same Apple Family Sharing group) that originally bought Lifetime to regain Pro access at no cost.
Trials
The 7-day free trial applies only to Pro Annual and converts to a paid Annual subscription if you don't cancel before the trial ends. The trial is available once per Apple ID or Google account. Pro Monthly has no free trial; Pro Lifetime has no free trial (non-consumable IAPs do not support introductory offers under Apple's and Google's rules).
Refunds
We do not process refunds directly. Refund requests for App Store purchases are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com; Play Store refund requests are handled by Google. We may, in our sole discretion, ask the relevant store to grant a refund.
5. Acceptable use
You may use FlightBound for personal, non-commercial purposes. You agree not to:
- reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from the app, except where applicable law allows it;
- redistribute, resell, sublicense, rent, or lease the app or any flight data it surfaces;
- use the app to scrape, mirror, or otherwise harvest flight data at a volume or cadence beyond ordinary personal use;
- bypass the per-install rate limits we apply on our flight-data proxy;
- interfere with the operation of the app, our backend, or other users' use of the app; or
- use the app to violate any law, regulation, or third party's rights.
You're responsible for any text you enter into the app — for example, a tracker label like "Mom's flight" attached to a tracked flight. Don't enter content that violates someone's privacy or includes information that isn't yours to share.
6. Third-party services
FlightBound relies on the following third parties to function. Your use of FlightBound is also subject to their terms:
- FlightAware (AeroAPI) — flight schedule and position data.
- Apple App Store and Google Play — distribution, in-app purchases, and subscription billing.
- RevenueCat — subscription state synchronization between the app and the stores.
- PostHog — product analytics, only if you have opted in via Settings → Privacy → Send usage data.
We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or content of these third-party services. If FlightAware's data is wrong or stale, FlightBound's display will be too.
7. Flight data is best-effort
Flight times, gates, terminals, baggage claim, and aircraft positions can change up to the moment of departure or arrival, and may not always be available to our data provider. FlightBound surfaces this information on a best-effort basis. Always confirm with your airline before making travel decisions — including arrival timing, pickup, missed connections, and rebooking.
We make no warranty as to the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of any flight information shown in the app or on this website.
8. Intellectual property
FlightBound, the FlightBound name and logo, the app's design, code, copy, and visual assets are owned by Generalize LLC and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, revocable, non-transferable license to install and use the app on devices you own or control, solely for your personal use, for as long as you comply with these terms.
Flight data shown in the app belongs to its sources (airlines, FlightAware, government feeds), not to us. We make no claim of ownership over it.
9. Privacy
Our handling of data is described in the Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these terms by reference. By using FlightBound you also agree to that policy.
10. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING (BUT NOT LIMITED TO) WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, OR ACCURACY OF FLIGHT DATA. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE.
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, OR USE, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO YOUR USE OF THE APP — INCLUDING ANY MISSED FLIGHT, MISSED CONNECTION, OR OTHER TRAVEL DISRUPTION — EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY UNDER THESE TERMS FOR ANY CLAIM SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE APP IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE, AND (B) $50 USD.
Some jurisdictions don't allow the exclusion or limitation of certain warranties or damages; in those places the limitations above apply only to the extent permitted by local law.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claim, demand, or expense (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to (a) your use of the app, (b) your violation of these terms, or (c) your violation of any law or any third party's rights.
12. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the app at any time, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you've violated these terms or are using the app in a way that harms our infrastructure or other users. You can stop using the app at any time by uninstalling it.
Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including section 4 (for amounts already due), 8, 9, 10, 11, 13, 14, and 16 — survive termination.
13. Apple- and Google-specific terms
If you downloaded the app from the Apple App Store, these terms are between you and Generalize LLC only — not between you and Apple. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app. To the extent these terms conflict with Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula), Apple's terms control for App Store distribution. You and we acknowledge that Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms, and that upon your acceptance, Apple will have the right (and will be deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce these terms against you as a third-party beneficiary.
If you downloaded the app from Google Play, Google Play's terms similarly apply where they conflict, and Google and its affiliates are third-party beneficiaries entitled to enforce these terms against you.
14. Governing law
Generalize LLC is organized under the laws of the State of Wyoming. These terms are governed by Wyoming law, excluding its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute arising under these terms will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Sheridan County, Wyoming, and you and we consent to that jurisdiction and venue.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the app evolves. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top. For material changes — for example, changes to subscription price, billing cadence, or the scope of how we use your information — we will give at least 30 days' advance notice by surfacing an in-app notice on the Settings screen before the change takes effect. Continuing to use the app after a change has taken effect means you accept the updated terms; if you don't agree, stop using the app and cancel any active subscription.
16. Miscellaneous
These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the app. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these terms; we may assign them in connection with a sale or transfer of the app.
17. Contact
For questions about these terms, email hello@flightbound.app. Formal legal notices may be sent to Generalize LLC via the same address.
